Davao City (officially, the City of Davao) is the regional center of Davao Region with a population of over 1.7 million people.
The people of Davao, Dabawenyos, live by the “King of Philippine Peaks” and “Grandfather of Philippine Mountains” (Mount Apo) among the king of the Philippine skies (the largest eagle in the world, the Philippine eagle) and the queen of the Philippine flowers (the waling-waling orchid), feasting on the king of exotic fruits (durian).

In recent years, the sprawling urban metropolis of Davao has emerged as the business, investment and tourism hub for the entire southern Philippines. Its international airport (Francisco Bangoy International Airport) and seaport (the Port of Davao) are among the busiest cargo hubs in the south of the country.
Our City Tourism Operations Office is highly committed to encouraging the tourism industry in the region, and Davao City hosts some of the most fun-filled annual festivals:
- February – Chinese New Year Festival
- March – Araw ng Davao (Davao’s anniversary celebration)
- August – Kadayawan Festival (similar to thanksgiving)
- September to December – “Ber” Months (countdown to Christmas)

The city boasts some of the finest beaches and most captivating diving spots on the Island Garden City of Samal just a quick 15-minute ferry ride away, including these must-visit spots:
- Holiday Oceanview Samal Resort and Marina (the first marina built in Mindanao)
- Camp Holiday Resort & Recreation Area, Samal Island (a camping-themed getaway resort)
